Ms. Raiatea Helm
February 10th, Two-time Grammy Nominee Raiatea Mokihana Maile Helm performed at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. She along with a stellar line-up of Hawaiian Slack Key Artists and Vocalists performed in honor of a new exhibit, a tribute to “Kī Hōʻalu” and the Masters of the Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar. October of 2015, Raiatea garnered the privilege to be the opening act for a sold-out Keith Urban concert in Honolulu.
In 2013, Raiatea was honored on May 9th with an invitation to perform at the White House Forum on Asian American and Pacific Island Heritage in Washington DC. She performed traditional Hawaiian songs as the artistic representative for Pacific Islanders.
In 2012, Raiatea Helm’s 2nd release, “Sweet & Lovely,” was recognized as the No. 7 recording of “The 25 Greatest Hawaii Albums of the New Century.” According the judges; “This follow-up to Helm’s celebrated debut, Far Away Heaven, solidified the young artist’s place in the Hawaiian music firmament. The album, whose title perfectly describes Helm’s high-voiced essence, won four Hoku awards, as well as a Grammy nomination—not bad for a 21-year-old from Molokai.”
